Website Design in Guyana

By Carlos De Cunha 7 min read

Search website design Guyana and you get local studios, regional shops, and pages that could have been written for any country. This post is for the Guyanese owner who needs a site customers can actually use — on a phone, with WhatsApp, in Guyana dollars — and a straight answer about what that work includes.

It is not a cost spreadsheet. The numbers live in our website design pricing guide. It is not a replacement for the web design page, which is the package list and the place to start a build. This is the buying guide: who the work is for, what a real local site has to do, and how to tell a Guyana-ready job from a brochure that ignores how people here buy.

Computing Core is a Guyanese-owned software company in East Coast Demerara, founded in 2014 by Carlos and Loreena De Cunha. We build POS systems, custom software, and websites for local SMBs.

Who website design in Guyana is for

If you already have a Facebook page and a WhatsApp Business number, you are the typical client. The job is not to invent a brand for a company that does not exist. It is to give customers one place you own: hours, services, location, a way to message you, and - if you sell goods - a way to pay without a foreign processor that cannot remit to a Guyanese bank account.

That covers a lot of Guyana SMBs:

  • Shops, pharmacies, salons, and restaurants that take walk-ins and WhatsApp orders

  • Service firms that need to look findable and reachable before anyone calls

  • Retailers who have outgrown “message us for price” and want a catalogue, still without a full store

  • Businesses that already run a till and may later want the website and the shop sharing stock

We sell a site you own, quoted in GYD, with someone in Guyana to call when a page needs editing/changing. Three pages and a WhatsApp button is a real job; so is an online store tied to POS and MMG. Say which one you need. The right website design in Guyana starts with that distinction, not a template pack.

What a real local site needs

The local checklist is short and specific.

Phone first

Customers will open your website on a phone/mobile device, often on mobile data, already deciding whether to message or walk in. Pages have to load cleanly, buttons have to be thumb-sized, and the first screen should answer who you are, what you do, where you are, and how to reach you. “Mobile responsive” on a quote is the baseline. If it is missing, keep looking for another web design company to build your site.

WhatsApp as the conversion path

In Guyana the sale often finishes in a chat, not a shopping cart. Our Starter package site includes a WhatsApp button for that reason. Put the number you actually answer and monitor. Put hours so people are not messaging into a void. If you take orders on WhatsApp, say what you need (item, quantity, area, pickup vs delivery) so the first message is useful.

Plenty of businesses should stop there. A catalogue page plus WhatsApp is a complete sales channel. An online store is a different job, and we will tell you when you do not need one yet.

Hours, location, Maps — as facts

Google Maps and social links belong on a business site because that is how people confirm you are real. Opening hours, a street address or well-known landmark, and the same phone number you print on receipts. If you serve more than one area (Georgetown, East Coast, Linden, Berbice), say so. Do not hide behind a contact form with no other way out.

MMG if you take money on the site

Selling online in Guyana has a payment problem overseas templates ignore: many foreign gateways cannot remit to a Guyanese bank account. Local payment integration — MMG is the one we implement — is how a store collects the way customers already pay.

That is why custom / e-commerce starts from $150,000 GYD and is scoped. Product catalogue, shopping cart, checkout process, orders, payment and website and server security have to work together. If you already own a Computing Core OnlinePOS subscription, your store can share inventory that's within the POS so the website does not sell what the store just ran out of. If you do not need that yet, start smaller and add the store later — that path is built in.

If you are VAT-registered, customers and suppliers already look for the same facts they see on a proper invoice — legal name, address, and the registration details you use with GRA. Putting those on an About or footer page is a trust signal. If you sell with VAT in the price, show prices the way you show them in the shop.

If you are not VAT-registered, do not paste boilerplate from another country. Say who you are and how to pay.

You own the domain and the site

With us, you own both. Domain from $10,000 GYD per year, hosting $20,000 GYD per year, first year of hosting free. A provider who keeps the domain is renting you your own business. Ask that before you pay anyone — including us.

Why local support is part of the product

Computing Core is on the East Coast Demerara. Call or WhatsApp (592) 600-1096 and a real person in Guyana answers, not an AI Assistant - weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We have been doing this for Guyanese businesses since 2014. We are a member of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Other local options, and how to compare

Whoever you call, check: GYD or USD; whether you own the domain; whether WhatsApp and MMG are in the build; and whether support is a person in Guyana or a ticket in another time zone/country. Our answer is GYD, you own the site/domain, WhatsApp is in Starter, MMG is how we take online payments, and support is local.

A Starter or Business site moves once content is in: name, services, photos you may use, hours, address, the WhatsApp number you answer, and any GRA details you want published. Writing and photography are extra work anywhere — they should be priced as extra. Custom work needs a longer scope: what you sell, how you take payment today, whether POS stock must stay in sync, and what “done” looks like for the first release on the site.

Ready when you are

Website design in Guyana is a local site a customer on a phone can use to find you, message you, and — when it is time — pay you in a way that lands in your Guyana bank account. Starter is $25,000 GYD. Business is $60,000 GYD. Custom starts from $150,000 GYD. You own the domain. Support is here.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

A phone-first site, WhatsApp on the number you answer, clear hours and location, ownership of the domain, and a GYD quote that separates the build from domain and hosting. If you sell online, ask how payment remits to a Guyanese account — MMG is the local answer we implement. If the proposal could have been written for Miami, it is not finished.

Often no. A Starter or Business site plus WhatsApp covers a large share of local selling. Move to custom / e-commerce (from $150,000 GYD) when order volume, catalogue size, or inventory sync makes a cart cheaper than chatting every order. You can start small and add the store later.

The pricing guide is the cost picture: packages, recurring fees, USD vs GYD, builders vs a local build. This article is the job picture: who it is for and what “local” has to include. Package prices are the same on both.

If you run Computing Core POS and you need an online store, yes — stock and orders can stay in sync between the shop and the site. That sits in custom work, not Starter. A brochure plus WhatsApp does not need it.

Look at packages on the web design page, then contact us or WhatsApp (592) 600-1096. Tell us what the business does, whether you need WhatsApp-only or a store, and whether you already have copy and photos. We will tell you Starter, Business, or Custom — including when you should not pay for Custom.
